[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] ‘2026 부산국제화랑아트페어(BAMA)’가 오는 4월 2일부터 5일까지 나흘간 부산 벡스코 제1전시장에서 열린다. 부산화랑협회가 주최하고 2026BAMA 운영위원회가 주관하는 이번 행사는 총 136개 국내외 갤러리가 참여해 약 4,000여 점의 작품을 선보인다.
올해로 15회를 맞은 BAMA는 ‘NODE : 연결과 확장의 마디’를 주제로, 아시아 아트페어의 허브로 자리매김하기 위한 다채로운 전시와 프로그램을 마련했다.
올해 BAMA는 단순한 미술품 거래의 장을 넘어, 예술을 통해 세대와 공간, 지역과 세계를 연결하는 새로운 플랫폼으로 진화한 모습을 선보인다. 행사 기간 동안 관람객은 미술품 관람뿐 아니라 청년작가 발굴전, 공간형 설치전, 아카이브전 등 다양한 예술 프로그램을 통해 동시대 미술의 흐름을 입체적으로 경험할 수 있다.
국내외 136개 갤러리 참여
이번 BAMA에는 해외 13개 갤러리를 포함해 총 136개 갤러리가 참가한다. 프랑스, 독일, 조지아, 말레이시아, 대만 등 7개국의 해외 갤러리와 함께, 국내 주요 갤러리로는 갤러리 바움, 보자르, 가이아, 씨엘아트, 비너스, 갤러리 위 등이 참여한다. 부산 지역에서는 채스아트센터, 갤러리 조이, 아트숲, 모제이, 리앤배, 화인, 데이트갤러리 등이 대거 동참해 지역 미술계의 저력을 보여줄 예정이다.

청년작가 특별전 ‘생동하는 노드: 20·30의 맥박’
특별전 ‘생동하는 노드: 20·30의 맥박’은 미래 미술계를 이끌 청년 작가 17명을 선정해 집중 조명하는 전시다.
이민걸, 이현도, 백나원, 유재희, 이성은, 원몬, 이소정, 정미나, 이은우, 김소형, 김희영, 황정원, 최설지, 강동윤, 안영주, 천지민, 한수연 등 젊은 작가들이 참여한다. 전시 제목처럼 청년 세대의 자유롭고 도전적인 창작 에너지가 ‘새로운 마디(New Nodes)’로 확장되는 모습을 보여줄 예정이다.이번 전시는 청년작가들의 시장 진입 기회를 넓히고, 지역 미술 생태계의 자생력을 강화하기 위한 플랫폼으로 기획됐다.
전시장 전체가 하나의 전시공간…‘NODE: 공간의 교차’
전시장 전역을 활용한 입체·조각·미디어 전시 ‘NODE: 공간의 교차’전도 주목된다. 이 전시는 상식적인 부스 배치를 넘어 전시장 곳곳의 통로와 유휴 공간을 예술적 교차점(Intersection)으로 구성해 관람객의 동선과 작품이 자연스럽게 맞물리도록 설계됐다.
참여 작가로는 최은정, 노동식, 이후창, 정희욱, 이성은 등이 이름을 올렸다. 최은정 작가는 레진을 겹겹이 쌓아 빛과 시간, 공간의 관계를 탐구하며 희망을 형상화한 작품을 선보이고, 노동식 작가는 솜을 이용해 일상 속 찰나의 감정과 기억을 시각화한다.

이후창 작가는 빛과 금속 소재로 현실과 환상의 경계를 표현하고, 정희욱 작가는 돌조각을 통해 인간의 존재와 정체성을 탐구한다. 이성은 작가의 섬유조각은 관람객의 촉각적 경험을 자극하며 ‘존재’에 대한 근원적 물음을 제시한다.
15주년 기념전 ‘Re-connecting the Future’
BAMA 15주년을 기념하는 아카이브전 ‘BAMA 15: Re-connecting the Future’는 지난 발자취를 정리하고, 지속 가능한 미래를 설계하는 장치로 마련됐다.
BAMA와 함께한 화랑 관계자 및 작가들의 인터뷰 기록을 담은 ‘Timeline Wall’과, 관람객이 직접 미래의 BAMA에 대한 메시지를 남기는 ‘Interactive Future’ 섹션으로 구성된다. 이번 전시는 과거와 현재, 미래를 연결하는 ‘예술 생태계의 축’을 복원하고, 지속 가능한 예술 네트워크의 방향성을 제시한다는 점에서 의미가 크다.
지역미술의 새로운 ‘노드’ 역할 강조
BAMA는 지역 청년작가의 성장과 국내외 화랑 간의 교류 확대를 통해 부산·울산·경남권 미술의 중심축으로 자리매김하고 있다. 이번 행사를 통해 지역 작가들의 창작 역량을 세계 미술시장과 연결하는 ‘노드(Node)’ 역할을 강화한다는 목표다.
행사 기간 중에는 작가와 관람객이 소통하는 참여형 도슨트 프로그램과 아트 토크 세션도 운영돼, 단순한 관람을 넘어 예술을 함께 체험하는 장이 될 예정이다.

“부산, 경쟁력 있는 문화예술 도시로 발전시킬 것”
채민정 부산화랑협회 회장은 “협회는 1980년 부산·울산·경남 지역 화랑을 중심으로 설립돼 현재 약 500개 회원 화랑이 참여하고 있다”며 “지역 미술 발전과 건강한 예술 생태계 조성을 위해 꾸준히 노력해왔다”고 말했다.
이어 “협회는 시민들이 예술을 가까이에서 즐길 수 있는 문화 행사를 지속적으로 마련하고, 지역 작가들의 해외 진출과 국제 교류 확대를 적극 지원할 것”이라며 “해외 우수 작가와 작품을 부산에 소개해 예술의 교류 폭을 넓히고, 부산이 경쟁력 있는 문화예술 도시로 자리매김하도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
2026BAMA는 예술의 현재와 미래를 잇는 ‘연결의 마디’로서, 지역과 세계를 아우르는 새로운 예술 플랫폼으로 성장하고 있다. 이번 행사를 통해 부산은 한국 미술을 아시아로 확장하는 핵심 거점으로 한 단계 도약할 전망이다.

The '2026 Busan Annual Market of Art (BAMA)' will open on April 2 and run through April 5 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Busan. Hosted by the Busan Galleries Association and organized by the 2026 BAMA Committee, this year’s fair will feature 136 galleries presenting about 4,000 artworks. Marking its 15th anniversary, BAMA returns under the theme “NODE: Points of Connection and Expansion,” highlighting its ambition to evolve into a major art hub in Asia.
Going beyond commercial art sales, this year’s BAMA positions itself as a dynamic platform that connects generations, spaces, and regions through art. Visitors will encounter a diverse range of programs, from exhibitions of young emerging artists to spatial installation showcases and archival projects that illuminate the past and the future of Korean contemporary art.
136 Domestic and International Galleries
A total of 136 galleries, including 13 from abroad, will participate in this year’s fair. International exhibitors come from France, Germany, Georgia, Malaysia, and Taiwan, among others. Major domestic galleries include Gallery Baum, Bozart, Gaia, Ciel Art, Venus, and*Gallery We, while major Busan representatives such as Chase Art Center, Gallery Joy, Art Forest, Mozei, Lee & Bae, Fine, and Date Gallery are also taking part. Their participation underlines Busan’s pivotal role in the expanding regional art scene.
Spotlight on Youth: “Vibrant Nodes – The Pulse of the 20s and 30s”
The special exhibition “Vibrant Nodes: The Pulse of the 20s and 30s” highlights 17 emerging Korean artists in their 20s and 30s, including Lee Min-geol, Lee Hyun-do, Baek Na-won, Yoo Jae-hee, Lee Sung-eun, Wonmon, Lee So-jeong, Jung Mi-na, and others.
Framed around the idea of “New Nodes,” the exhibition provides a platform for young talents to experiment freely across disciplines while expanding their access to the art market. It aims to strengthen the self-sustaining foundation of Busan’s local art ecosystem through bold and innovative creative practices.
Turning the Entire Venue into an Exhibition: “NODE: Spatial Intersection”
The installation and sculpture exhibition “NODE: Spatial Intersection” transforms the entire BEXCO exhibition hall into an immersive, three-dimensional art environment. Breaking away from conventional booth layouts, the show integrates corridors and open areas into dynamic intersections where art and audience movement naturally intertwine.
Participating artists include Choi Eun-jung, Noh Dong-sik, Lee Hoo-chang, Jung Hee-wook, and Lee Sung-eun. Choi explores time, space, and light with layered resin structures that embody hope and coexistence, while Noh visualizes fleeting emotions through cotton-based installations. Lee Hoo-chang’s sculptural works use light, glass, and stainless steel to blur the boundary between reality and illusion, and Jung Hee-wook’s stone sculptures probe questions of existence and human identity. Lee Sung-eun’s fiber-based sculptures invite tactile interaction, prompting reflections on presence and being.
15th Anniversary Exhibition: “Re-connecting the Future”
To mark its 15th anniversary, BAMA presents “BAMA 15: Re-connecting the Future,” an archive exhibition that revisits the fair’s history while envisioning a sustainable future for the art ecosystem.
The exhibit features a “Timeline Wall,” documenting interviews with galleries and artists who have shaped BAMA over the past 15 years, as well as an “Interactive Future” section where visitors can share messages and visions for the fair’s next chapter. It symbolizes the connection between past, present, and future in BAMA’s ongoing evolution as a central node in the Asian art network.
Strengthening the Local Art Ecosystem
Through these programs, BAMA consolidates its role as a key “node” linking local young artists, regional galleries, and the global art market. Educational docent tours and artist talks will offer visitors opportunities for deeper engagement and dialogue, transforming the fair into a participatory cultural experience rather than a simple exhibition of works.
“Building Busan into a Competitive Cultural City”
Chae Min-jung, Chairperson of the Busan Galleries Association, said, “The Association was founded in 1980 around galleries in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions and now includes about 500 member galleries. We have dedicated ourselves to nurturing the region’s art community and building a healthy creative ecosystem.”
She added, “Through events like BAMA, we aim to bring art closer to citizens, promote international exchange, and support local artists’ advancement abroad. We will continue introducing outstanding international artists to Busan and strengthening the city’s position as a competitive cultural and artistic hub.”
